Due to some family obligations that have been scheduled, I am no longer able to participate in the
ING Georgia Marathon as my first marathon. As you might imagine, I'm really disappointed about not being able to do it. However, I've felt sorry for myself long enough about it and decided to just go with the flow and make some changes.
With that said, I've signed up for the
Country Music Marathon, which takes place on April 24, in Nashville, TN. I've heard great things about the race, and Nashville is the next most convenient city for me to race in behind Atlanta.
This change actually might end up working out for the best. Thanks to the bronchitis...

February ended up being quite a disappointment after my almost 100 mile month in January. First, I got de-railed a little bit due to stuff at work. The next big thing was getting bronchitis, which kept me from training for about 2 weeks. Never had it before, and definitely didn't expect to be kept from training for so long. With the excuses out of the way, here's the data for February!
I ran 5 times for 30.65 miles. Total time was 5:11:47. I only had one long run for the month, as well as a 10K race:
13.15m @ 2:25:55 (11:06min/mi) @ 154bpm
6.3m @ 50:31 (8:01min/mi) @ 176bpm [PR!]
I biked 5 times for a total of 106.38 miles. I was on the...

For those of you not familiar with the weather in Georgia, it would be fair to say that snow is a rare thing. Strong snow for a few hours where a couple of inches actually accumulates? Unheard of! We had that situation happen yesterday, so I took the opportunity to enjoy the snow by going out for a run in Piedmont Park. I decided to take my camera with me to get some photographic evidence that there really was snow that happened here. It was only a short 5K run at a slow pace (ignoring the frequent stops for pictures), but since the purpose of the run was just to have fun and enjoy the snow, who cares!!!! ...

Saturday morning I participated in the 9th annual
Chattahoochee Challenge 10K. I've heard about this race for a while, as people talk about it as one of the best races to qualify for the Peachtree Road Race since it is nice and flat. The weather wasn't perfect today as it was 40F with a windchill of probably close to 32F, but it didn't rain during the race, so I consider ourselves lucky!
Getting there, you had to park about a mile down the road from the start in a school and hike it to packet pickup. Thankfully, unlike some of the more local races, they didn't also give you your T-Shirt before the race and make you lug it around. ...

Last August,
I announced that I had signed up for the
ING Georgia Marathon, which takes place on March 21. Back then it seemed like a lofty and distant goal. But February is here now, and the race is actually next month! It's hard to believe that one year ago, I had not run 400m in over 7 years, yet in a month, I'll be running a marathon [something I never did in High School]
Training has been going quite well. I created a 18 week training plan and followed it for the first few weeks. When 2010 rolled around I decided to make a big investment in myself and picked up some coaching by joining
