Going with the flow
Due to some family obligations that have been scheduled, I am no longer able to participate in the ING Georgia Marathon as my first marathon. As you might imagine, I’m really disappointed about not being able to do it. However, I’ve felt sorry for myself long enough about it and decided to just go with the flow and make some changes.
With that said, I’ve signed up for the Country Music Marathon, which takes place on April 24, in Nashville, TN. I’ve heard great things about the race, and Nashville is the next most convenient city for me to race in behind Atlanta.
This change actually might end up working out for the best. Thanks to the bronchitis I had, I missed 2 weeks of training at a rather crucial time, so having a marathon 2 weeks from now (when ING was supposed to be) would have been rather stressful. With it now being 1.5 months away, I can still finish out my training plan and get all the required runs in.
Look out Nashville, here I come!
Sounds like that might actually be a blessing in disguise! Bronchitis can be nasty too… you don’t need to be hitting the training plan too hard only to have it relapse! “Look out Nashville, here I come!” – rock it ;)
Chris; I’ve actually had (2) marathons and (1) Ironman that I paid for yet wasn’t able to attend due to scheduling conflicts. I’m glad you were able to go with the flow and set your sights on another marathon!
This year a very good friend – the guy who started getting me fit about 10 years ago – will run his first marathon and I won’t be able to be there. While it sucks, I just gotta take your example and go with the flow. :)
FYI: congrats on the ridiculous weight loss! Fantastic job man!
